Description

Barking Riverside Limited (BRL) is a joint venture between L&Q and the Greater London Authority, responsible for delivering one of Europe’s most ambitious regeneration projects. Barking Riverside is a 443-acre brownfield site, formerly home to Barking Power Station which is now being transformed into a vibrant new neighbourhood of 20,000 homes, with a sense of community and belonging.

Once complete, Barking Riverside will have truly affordable family homes, enhanced green spaces, new schools, health centres, improved access to the River Thames and extensive retail, employment and community infrastructure.

We are now seeking a Managing Director, who is an inspirational and strategic leader, to guide BRL through the next phase of delivery. This is a unique and high-profile opportunity to shape the future of one of the largest regeneration schemes in Europe.

Reporting to both the Greater London Authority and L&Q, the Managing Director will ensure the successful delivery of BRL’s mission, uphold its reputation and drive effective partnership working. This role will lead on strengthening corporate governance and developing a credible, long-term business plan in collaboration with the BRL board.

We are looking for candidates with a strong background in regeneration, placemaking or the built environment, from either the public or private sector. Ideal candidates will have proven experience of leadership at Director level in a relevant area, for example delivering residential development and leading land trading negotiations / land contracts. Presenting a track record in commercial environments, you will demonstrate proven political and financial acumen with the ability to drive optimum business outputs. An inspiring people leader, you will be capable of motivating a high-performing team of 40 professionals and engaging a broad range of stakeholders with clarity and purpose.
